Mahogany Grey

Mahogany Grey thought today was May
She planted her flowers and forgot to pray.

The rain came falling down like a whip
She watched from her window, on wine she sipped

Mahogany Grey thought today was May
She answered her phone and forgot to pray

The voice on the other side said "your time is up",
The house she was living in was about to throw her up.

Mahogany Grey thought today was May,
She looked at her calender and forgot to pray.

She stepped to her desk to write a check,
She didn't notice the mole on her neck.

Mahogany Grey thought today was May,
She went to her doctor and forgot to pray.

She waited for a clear and healthy answer,
Her only answer was stage 4 skin cancer.

Mahogany Grey knew it was no longer May,
She knew the cause was too many summer days.
She sat on her bed and remembered to pray.

She uttered the words "Oh Lord what day is it today?"
He answered "It's the day you'll no longer be in dismay"

So Mahogany Grey, surrounded by her flowers, got some rest that day,
 "Mayflower" was engraved.
