Black smoke
As I walked in the chilled air,
It turned mild just for a moment,
And you were mine again.
I saw your hand on the steering wheel
And caught a whiff of that expensive cologne
You loved to hide behind.
You always smelled good
Looked good too
Tasted even better
But was rotten to the core.
That was the best part about you.
I felt endangered with you,
Living like death could have swept me away in the form of a truck,
If I even dared to look at you too long.
God knew my grave laid with you.
I think it will benefit you to know,
That the grave we had together, you now lie in alone.
I chose to live
Black smoke.
